Tees Valley Community Foundation is working with Going Green Together to provide vital support and training for local organisations to become more environmentally sustainable.

Become Green Together is a unique programme offering twelve months of support to VCSE organisations of all sizes and areas of activity to face the challenges of the climate crisis, including organisations which haven’t undertaken environmental work before.

Participants benefit from resources such as accreditation with Investors in the Environment and carbon reporting tools to help them make their organisations environmentally sustainable, alongside the support and guidance of expert consultants and a network of peers.

balletLORENT a leading contemporary dance theatre company in the North East,  joined Become Green Together in October 2022:

“The training and guidance we have received so far has been invaluable,” said a spokesperson. “We are well on our way to a much more detailed breakdown of our carbon footprint than was previously available to us, and are in the process of revamping and improving our environmental policy and action plans. The knowledge we have gained will vastly change the way we look at our impact, and I can’t recommend the programme enough.”

Access to the programme is heavily subsidised thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund. Tees Valley Community Foundation are also providing bursaries to cover the full costs of taking part, so that organisations with financial barriers can access this important
opportunity. You can find out more about bursaries by emailing the project coordinator, Nathaniel Spain, at Nathaniel.Spain@vonne.org.uk.

Applications to Become Green Together are open from the 1 st April to the 31 st May, with a second and final window opening July-September this year. Spaces are limited, so be sure to sign up early to avoid disappointment. You can read more and apply on the Going Green Together website here.
