The Rotary Club of Cleveland Fund (Superswim)

This fund was first set up in 1991 to deliver an annual swimming event in partnership with Teesside Council for Voluntary Service, (the trading name for Cleveland Council for Voluntary Service), the Rotary Club of Cleveland, (Middlesbrough), and the then named Cleveland Community Foundation (now Tees Valley Community Foundation), supported by Comcast (now Virgin Media). The event was a huge success, rapidly becoming part of the town’s calendar of events and raising substantial funds through sponsorship and donations. The event ran until around the time of the close of the century but the legacy of the event continues to this day in partnership with The Rotary Club of Cleveland, who support TVCF. They do this through the recommendation of causes and activities that receive funding, including an annual visit to Flamingo Land by a group of children from a local school and visits to Peat Rigg Outdoor Training Centre for young carers.
