Support is being offered to two future engineers seeking to study at Teesside University, thanks to a new Tees Valley Community Foundation Scholarship.
The scholarship will be offered to two undergraduate students from the Teesside area who start an engineering degree this autumn. Each of the two recipients would receive £7,500 during their undergraduate course.
Tees Valley Community Foundation provides a link between those who want to give back or establish a legacy with those who are passionate about making a difference to the community.
Over the past three decades, the organisation has continued to channel charitable donations and community investments directly to charities and groups, offering a wide range of support through funding, grants and mentoring.
Hugh McGouran, Chief Executive of Tees Valley Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted to work with Teesside University to offer this scholarship. As a graduate of the University and a Boro lad through and through, it’s a great privilege to be able to connect the past – Teesside’s industrial heritage – with the successful industries of the present and pay it forward to benefit the engineers of the future.
“The Foundation has a 30-year relationship with industry on Teesside; our prime objective is to enable those organisations to provide support, commitment and possibility for the future success of the area as the industry moves towards net zero and sustainability.”

The scholarship is open to applicants living in Teesside who are seeking to study BEng Aerospace Engineering, BEng Building Services Engineering, BEng Chemical Engineering, BEng Civil Engineering, BSc Construction Management, BEng Electrical & Electronic Engineering, BEng Energy Engineering, BEng Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or BEng Mechanical Engineering.
