Green-fingered volunteers help fight against food poverty

A group of green fingered volunteers received funding to enable them to cultivate a large allotment plot in East Cleveland.

The group, Normanby Allotment Association, had been allocated a derelict allotment plot by Redcar and Cleveland Council and wished to develop the site in order to grow organic produce that they could distribute to local soup kitchens and foodbanks, also providing recreational activity for members.

Tees Valley Community Foundation were pleased to award funding for the development of the land, building fences, installing raised beds for planting and a greenhouse.
